Chief Business Official Academy

TSS CBO Academy is a state-approved training program that is not only designed for business officials to learn how to manage and stay on top of their responsibilities, but rather to also provide a platform for their growth and for building, or strengthening, and managing a department that contributes at a higher level of consciousness. The objective of this academy is that you are prepared to take on the challenge and improve upon the current standards, and thus provide excellent service to the district, the schools, the educators, the community, and the ultimate clients–the students. This CBO training and preparation program is the best designed and staffed training program for CBO’s in California. By now, you might already be aware that this program has resulted in demonstrated success for applicants and veteran CBO’s from all parts of California alike.

The CBO academy is a great resource for current CBOs to refresh their knowledge, access updated information, and learn from and network with their peers. It is a valuable resource for educators and education leaders, especially those who hold or want to hold a higher management position such as Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent in a school district. School board members, education services and HR professionals, principals and private industry professionals planning to make a career change, they have all participated in this valuable TSS training program.

Program

This comprehensive CBO academy program is designed to provide intensive training over a period of one year through 10 two-day sessions that are spread throughout the year to ease the learning process and make the best of the integration possibilities. The process include hands-on practice exercises and interactive instruction that

  1. Gives current and prospective CBOs detailed concrete skill sets and resources to manage areas that fall under their purview;
  2. Fosters leadership styles and abilities to instill a vision among staff and plan for its implementation; and
  3. Strengthens communication skills to promote a “business-side” vision for candidates to deal with conflict effectively.

Instructors

The CBO training program is taught by former, retired, and current school district officials and board members with emphases in business services and related departments. The instructors are abreast in current developments in their respective areas of expertise.

Cost

The cost for the entire CBO professional development program is $3,000 per attendee, which includes materials and handouts.
