Safe Harbor to Exit Program ImprovementHow to be Intentional and Accelerate Achievement for All StudentsThis workshop is intended for elementary educators and the district administrators responsible for elementary schools. It may also be beneficial for middle school educators. However, it is not designed to address the needs of high school educators. The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 provides an alternate method for meeting subgroup proficiency targets that are escalating quickly toward 100 percent in 2013-14. Understanding and focusing on Safe Harbor guidelines makes sense as a way to improve learning opportunities for all students and to say goodbye to Program Improvement sanctions. Getting out of Program Improvement and into Safe Harbor is simple. This workshop will help you:
Are you doing what you have always done, or are you willing to do whatever it takes to help your students reach their goals?
Materials Participants receive a binder with a hard copy of the powerpoint used during the presentation and a thumb drive with the spreadsheet calculator for determining specific, school and classroom Safe Harbor targets. About the Presenter Andrew Fisher comes to us with 40 years of experience as a teacher at the K-12 and university level, a district coordinator, and as an elementary, middle, and high school administrator. His schools have been honored as a High Achieving Title I School and a California Distinguished School.
